    Title: Research support

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Supporting molecular biology research by preparing reagents and supplies

    • Washing and sterilizing serological glass pipettes and other glassware

    • Preparing and sterilizing growth media and other solutions

    • Cleaning and organizing the lab space

    • Monitoring and restocking supplies 

    Qualifications

    • Required: Punctuality, organization, teamwork, and attention to detail

    • Assets: Interest in molecular biology and biochemistry, experience with working on molecular biology labs

    • Current SFU BSc students in a relevant field will be favoured

    • Hours are flexible, but 3x2 hour shifts per week is preferred. These shifts can be arranged to accommodate class schedules.

    • Mammalian DNA repair and its role in cancer therapeutic sensitivity

    • Genomics approaches to monitor DNA processing

    • Factors mediating CRISPR-based gene editing outcomes

    • In vivo and in vitro biochemistry of nucleic acid-associated proteins

    • Computational methods to predict protein binding and dynamics
